Harlin G. Brinson, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a military man. Having been raised during a volatile time in Detroit, Michigan, he credited the military for giving him opportunities to travel and gain an education he never would have been able to attain. He served in WWII and the Vietnam War, in which he received 16 medals, including a bronze star.
It was the Army that led him to Hawaii in 1968, and he knew the minute he stepped foot on the island of Oahu (God willing) he would never leave. Having traveled the world, he felt blessed and grateful that he could raise his family here. Even in the last few years that he was plagued with dementia, he would speak with pride that he was to be able to retire after 30 years and call Hawaii his home. From the people, plants, flowers, ocean and land…he was fascinated by the beauty of every living thing in the islands. Toward the end, his one wish was to pass in his sleep, with his wife and children by his side, in the home that he loved. On Saturday, September 7, 2019, that wish came true.
Our Dad left us peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, to start the next chapter in his journey. Although we are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us physically, we know he will be with us in spirit and heart.
He is survived by; his wife - Theresia, son – Robert and wife Kathy, Daughters – Maria, Debbie, Theresia and husband Shawn, Grandchildren – Tony, Christopher, Suzi, Nicholas and Christian.
Inurnment 11:30 am Tuesday October 29, 2019 at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
