Lucy F. Lum

LUCY F. LUM, 97 of Ewa, Hawaii, passed away on July 4, 2019 in Kapolei, Hawaii.  She was born in Ewa, Hawaii.  She was predeceased by her husband, Allen “Achuka” Lum, her parents, Manuel and Sophie Miranda, and her 10 siblings.  Lucy is survived by her children: Patricia “Patsy” (Earl) Cerbana, David (Patricia) Lum, Frances (David) Kaea; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary’s Mauka Chapel.  Funeral service is at 11:30 am.  Burial to follow at 12:30 pm.  Lunch will be served in the dining hall following the burial.

Lucy, affectionately known as Mom, Gramma, Gramma Lucy, Aunty Lucy, was a phenomenal and remarkable woman.  She had the patience of a saint, a heart of gold, a smile that could light up a room, and a love that knew no boundaries.  She cherished every moment spent with her family for they were the most important thing to her.  She attended hula performances, recitals, sporting events, parties, graduations and weddings, near and far.  We will all remember the chicken dance as it was part of most of our parties and weddings because she loved it so much.  We will also remember eating her homemade malasadas and sweet bread, playing games with her, learning how to cook, listening to her stories, and hanging out with her.  

When she wasn’t with her children and grandchildren, she could be found at one of many senior citizen clubs or activities with her sister and sister-in-law.  She loved to crochet, sew quilts, make and paint ceramics, needle point, and other arts and crafts.  She also loved watching soap operas and Korean dramas.

Lucy often said, “God Blessed me with a good family.”  But truly, her family is Blessed to have had her in their lives.
