Cecilio Buan, son of Florencia Buan and the late Pedro Buan was born on October 17, 1952 in Pampanga, Philippines. He grew up in the Philippines, competed up to 11th grade education, and then migrated to the United States at age 19. He attended Honolulu Community College and obtained an apprentice sheet metal worker certificate.
He was united in holy matrimony to Emily Galamgam in 1976. This union was blessed with 2 healthy and beautiful children.
He worked for 35 years as a sheet metal worker. He learned all the tricks of trade while on the job and was a handy man that could fix anything and everything. Outside of work, you could find him busy fixing up his home, making sure that all the fixtures were metal and would last a lifetime. He also enjoyed fishing, attending chicken fights, enjoyed watching boxing and UFC, and would travel to Las Vegas at least once a year. He was fortunate to be able to retire from his blue collar job at the age of 55, once both kids completed college. During retirement, he kept busy fixing things, traveling around the world, and taking care of his grandchildren.
He peacefully departed this life on Sunday, November 15, 2020 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his wife and children.
He is survived by his wife Emily; 2 children Randy and Janelle; 3 grandchildren Ranson, Keira, and Luke; mother Florencia; 3 sisters Amelia, Betty, and Delia; and numerous family and friends.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and state restrictions, the Mililani Mortuary private viewing and burial will be limited to a small number of selected close family members only. The family is planning on having “Celebration of Life” memorial service in the distant future.
The family of Cecilio wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the countless family and friends for all their love, support, and prayers!
