James “Tiger” Kwon
April 27, 1921 – February 10, 2020
JAMES KWON 98, of Pearl City, Hawaii, passed away on February 10, 2020 in Kaiser Moanalua Hospital. He was born in Makawao, Maui, Hawaii on April 27, 1921. He was in the Army and served overseas in Japan and discharged with Asiatic Pacific Service, WWII Victory and Army of Occupation Medals in 1946. He worked for the City and County Parks and Recreation as Zoo Groundskeeper and later retired from the Board of Water Supply as Water Service Supervisor in December, 1976.
James was fortunate to enjoy many years in retirement and accomplished what he loved the most, spending time with his loving family and loving Las Vegas where he traveled every month the last year of his life.
He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Tina), David and Darrell (Gelmaflor) Kwon; daughters, Geraldine “Gerry” Ornellas, Susan Kane, Gailynn “Gail” Archuleta and Marlene (Blaine) Pezario; 19 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Kwon, son Garrick Kwon, daughter Elizabeth Simeon and brother John Kwong.
He is also survived by sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and many long-time friends.
Burial will be 2:00 pm Tuesday March 31, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park in Pearl City.
