Mary Ruth Rulloda Obituary

Mary Ruth Montalba Rulloda, was born on October 11, 1945, in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was a Wahiawa dialysis patient for 13 years when her access started to fail. Despite the best efforts of her medical team, it was not to be.  Instead, her mission here was ending but by God’s good graces, not before receiving the Last Rites by Fr. Niko of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Parish. Once her nearest and dearest was at her bedside, surrounding her with love, the Lord called her forth from this earthly pilgrimage on June 4, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mateo Balicut Montalba and Concordia Lucas Vicente.

Mary Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Fortunato "Atong" "Ford" Rulloda; children, Marlene (Al) Perdido, Bernina "Nina" (Tony) Valdez and Jamilee "Jamie" (Nick) Vail; brothers, Louisito Montalba, Raul (Elda) Montalba and Jessie (Lorna) Montalba; sister, Amy (Anton) Francisco; grandchildren, Niyah Marie, Christian Anthony, Janeena, Savannah Mary, Charlotte Alexandria, Lillianna and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Our Mom was a devoted daughter, an amazing wife, a super-hero mother, a doting grandma, a loving sister, a caring auntie, a generous abalayan (in-law), a loyal friend and a humble person.  She was affectionately called and given the honorary title of “Auntie Ruth” or “Nana Mary” by the many that looked to her as being like another mom/grandma to them.

Mom was a devoted parishioner at OLS serving as a lecturer, Sunday class instructor & attended Bible study group. Mary Ruth retired from the State of Hawaii after 20 years of working as a para medical assistant with home bound senior citizens.

She loved being in the kitchen and giving out her delicious homemade dishes to everyone. She would cook chicken hekka, roscaldo, bibiinka and bistek pork steak.  She was always a quick learner & multitasking by using her iphone to listen to Oldies music, checking Facebook & the stock market. She would order takeout like a pro from Merlina’s for pancit & lechon. Mom always looked forward to planning routine vacations to Las Vegas. Her passion was sewing & paper crafting (not kidding) and tending to her garden - admiring the blooming flowers, helping our dad upkeep the yard and harvesting the fruits (especially from their calamansi tree).  Which is so fitting as her life was indeed a fruitful one.

Mom, we love and miss you so very much.  Most of all, Dad.  May the sacrifices you made in this life serve you well in the next, through God’s infinite and divine mercy.  We will pray for you always.  Please pray for us, too…that one day we will all be reunited in our true home Heaven, in Jesus Christ’s most Holy Name.  La Virgen Milagrosa de Badoc, Cause of Our Joy, intercede for us!

May the angels lead you into paradise;

May the martyrs receive you at your arrival,

And lead you to the holy city Jerusalem.

May the choirs of angels receive you,

And with Lazarus, once poor,

May you have eternal rest.

Eternal rest grant onto, our beloved Mom, O Lord.  Let perpetual light shine upon her.  Requiescat in pace. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.
