At the age of 77, Palmer Sin Hen Uiha Ching, of Pearl City, passed away peacefully in his home with family. He was born in Kohala to George and Daisy Ching. This kolohe paniolo at heart graduated from Kohala High School in 1963. Dedicating 36 years to truck driving for RHS Lee Inc. earned Ching a respectable reputation before he retired in 2010. His big fun was bowling in several leagues, traveling to Vegas despite a distaste for flying, and riding his Harley with friends doing Poker Runs and Rolling Thunder on the H-3. Papa was so proud of and loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids. This neighborly jokester and his stories will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Gail (Yoneda), his children: Rannette (Chris) Orr, Ryan (Harriet) Ching, Robin (Kelli Ann) Ching, Tiffany Ching, and Traci (Daniel) Salazar, 10 grandchildren, a great-grandaughter, and his siblings: Irvin (Linda) Ching, Warnette Kondo, Lindsey (Pady Ann) Ching, and Mervin (Lucia) Ching, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
