Aidan Valentin Long's Obituary
Aidan Long Obituary
Aidan Valentin Long, passed away February 21, 2021 at the age of 13 after his battle with brain cancer. He was born on June 4, 2007 to the parents of Sherilyn and Terence Long.
Aidan loved learning and going to school because he got to learn something new. He was especially happy when he got to go to in person school even if it was just once a week while the rest of the school week was virtual with his teachers and classmates. He loved being able to interact with everyone at Mililani Middle School. Aidan was in the 8th grade.
On his days off he Aidan loved reading about dinosaurs, different species of animals, planes, and most recently, everything to do with the NFL and NBA players of the past and present. Aidan’s passion for sports was paramount as he would spend his free time playing basketball and soccer or watching an NFL or NBA game. He would be glued to ESPN and everything on Sportscenter so he could be up to date on the latest news happening around the NFL and NBA. His two favorite teams were the Golden State Warriors and the Kansas City Chiefs and his two favorite players were Stephen Curry and Patrick Mahomes. Aidan's wish for Make-A-Wish was supposed to go and meet Steph Curry or go to a Warriors game, but with COVID, his wish like many other wish kids wasn't able to happen. He always held out hope that if he waited he would be able to see Steph or the Warriors. Fortunately, he was able to participate in being a part of the virtual fan experience during last year's Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics, which is his second favorite NBA team.
Aidan loved to travel. He has been to Disneyland and Las Vegas about 10 times. He has traveled to the Philippines with his grandparents, aunt, and uncle. In 2019, Aidan and his family took a road trip where they started in Oregon where they visited different national parks: Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave, Antelope Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Arches, Grand Canyon, and ended the trip with another trip to Disneyland. Aidan had planned to travel the world and experience new things when he was older.
Besides his love for learning and traveling, Aidan loved eating desserts. He loved anything chocolate and on one occasion, he had eaten 3 chocolate crepes in one sitting. Aidan loved cookies and cream ice cream, shave ice, oreo milkshakes, and chocolate chip cookies. He always made sure he had room for dessert.
Aidan loved to laugh and was always a joy to be around. In his class, at home, or during his clinic visits, Aidan would love to crack a joke. Aidan faced brain cancer with great courage and resilience that inspired everyone that knew him. He never let the cancer take away from the things he wanted to do and always looked forward to each day. Aidan made sure he could squeeze every bit of goodness out of everyday. Aidan would be so thankful for everyday’s accomplishments or experiences that he would do a prayer to thank God each night.
Aidan is survived by his two parents; Sherilyn and Terence, his brothers; Bryce and Seth, and both sets of grandparents.
