Alberto P. Alarcon's Obituary
Alberto Alarcon Obituary
Reverend Father Alberto Alarcon was born on June 6, 1949 at Lagonoy, Camarines Sur Philippines to Bishop Policarpo and Lourdes Alarcon. He was the eldest among 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
He studied 9 years for the priesthood at St. Andrew’s Theological Seminary in Quezon City, Philippines. When he was in the seminary, he received a scholarship to study History at the University of the Philippines for four years and graduated with honors. When he was still a seminarian, he was assigned to pastoral work at St. Anthony’s Church, Cavite City, Philippines, where he met his future wife, Emelina Mostajo, the organist of the church.
In 1973, Emelina, along with her brother and sister, were petitioned by their father, Vicente Mostajo, U.S. retired navy, to immigrate to Hawaii. During this time, Emelina and Alberto had a long distance, 4-year courtship through an abundance of love letters. They eventually got married on December 29, 1976.
Emelina petitioned for Alberto to join her in Hawaii, where she was pregnant with their first child, Dr. Christy Alarcon. Alberto immigrated to the United States in January 1978, when Christy was just 5 months old. He baptized her at St. Pauls’ Episcopal Church. One year later, their son Noel Alarcon was born.
They lived a happy, simple life in Aiea, Hawaii and eventually moved to Ewa Beach, where the children spent most of their childhood. The Alarcon family relocated to Milliani Mauka in 1996.
Alberto studied at the Kenway School of Accounting and obtained his accounting degree. He also successfully passed his CPA certification. He worked as an accountant controller at Charlie’s Tour and Taxi for several years until he transferred to Dr. Cachero’s clinic as an accountant. He decided to make a lifelong career decision to be a self-employed bookkeeper, income tax preparer and accountant so that he could spend most of his time as a devoted father to raising his two children while Emelina worked full-time.
Beginning of 1979, Alberto joined the Hawaiian Lodge Free and Accepted Masons in the State of Hawaii. He also joined the Grand Lodge, Shriners and Scottish Rite. He devoted over 38 years of services as the Hawaiian Lodge treasurer, Grand Lodge treasurer and trustee. He also served as the accountant and controller of St. Luke’s Espiscopal Church for more than 30 years. During this time, he also served as an assistant priest at St. Paul’s Espiscopal Church. He loved his work and service to these organizations and made his life more fulfilling.
Alberto led a good life as a kind human being who brought joy to others through his infectious smile and jolly demeanor. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle, brother, son and friend. He had a unique sense of humor that brought happiness to those around him. He always made Emelina laugh through his hula dancing moves and he really lived life to the fullest, including enjoying so much of his favorite foods, such crispy pata and lechon kawali. He will always remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by wife, Emelina M. Alarcon; son, Noel Alarcon (Reziel); daughter, Christy Alarcon; brothers, Aloisio Alarcon (Evelyn), Aladino Alarcon (Melinda), Alfonso Alarcon, Alfredo Alarcon (Christine), Albinio Alarcon (Toni), Alfindo Alarcon (Vivian) sisters, Alegina Rampas (Carlos), Aleluya Khorram (Navid), Alegria Nailes (Ernest); 2 grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 02, 2025 at St. Andrews Cathedral.
