Alfredo "Al" Coronas' Obituary
Alfredo “Al” Coronas, 84, of Waipahu, Hawaiʻi, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, March 9, 2026, bringing his long and vibrant journey on this earth to a close after spending his final days surrounded by the love of his family.
Al was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years and high-school sweetheart, Linda Coronas. It was an honor for Al’s three sons, David R. (Sherrie), Kevin L. (Hanani), and Patrick E. (Leticia), and their families to shower him with love and care in his final season of life. Alfredo was a proud grandfather to Jennifer (Phil), Darla, Zachary (Charnelle), Ian, Peyton (Aheron), and Patrick Jr. (Maiah), and a great-grandfather to Madison, Reef, Rex, Landon, Kairi, Kaliko, and Niall.
Al was predeceased by his parents, Eustaquio and Sot
era Coronas. He grew up in a plantation camp of old Waipahu town, where he enjoyed an energetic childhood with his brothers and sisters, extended family and friends. He was a member of the Waipahu High School Class of 1959.
Al was an intellect, a craftsman, and a man of many passions. He was quick-witted and had a robust sense of humor throughout his life, even in his final days. He mastered many hobbies, including training bird dogs, judging field trials, hunting, archery, bowling, drag racing, surfing, photography, auto mechanics, and more.
Beginning in 1965, Al enjoyed a 26-year career at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as a Shipfitter/Planner & Estimator. He then worked briefly at Matson before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, to spend his “golden years” with Linda. After 20 years of service as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator with the City of Las Vegas, Al and Linda returned home to Hawaiʻi in 2017 to be closer to family.
A private graveside service is planned at a later date.
