Alfredo Cuaresma, Sr. Obituary
Alfredo Anatalio Cuaresma, Sr., died peacefully in his sleep on February 8, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 93 years old. Alfredo was born in Koloa, Kauai, and worked for 47 years at Oahu Sugar Plantation. His retirement years were filled with travel and visits with family, near and far.
He is survived by his wife, Estefania Guillermo Cuaresma; children, Alfredo (Elaine) Cuaresma, Jr., Charlene (Gene DaShiell) Cuaresma, Laurel (Laurie) Cuaresma, Darna Cuaresma, Dorinda (Stephen) Brezina, Allie (Lenny) Hall, Bernadette (Stephen) Bartels, Phillip (Trisha Sofa) Payomo; and step-daughter, Madeline (Brett) Aquilina. He is also survived by his sisters, Leonora (Mariano, predeceased) Guerrero, Estelita (Ricardo) Gaba,Teresita (Banuar) Caldito, brother Rodrigo Refareal, sister-in-law Julia Cuaresma and former brother-in-law Feliciano Crisostomo. Alfredo was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Cecilia Manuel Guillermo Cuaresma (mother of their children Alfredo, Jr., Charlene, Laurel, Darna and Dorinda); parents Fernando Borja Cuaresma and Bernardina Dela Cruz Cuaresma; sister Florita Crisostomo; and brothers Estanislao "Doring"(Julia) Cuaresma, and Edison Cuaresma.
The family is deeply grateful to all his healthcare providers for their excellent, compassionate care throughout the years of his courageous battle with cancer: Kaiser Permanente clinic nurses, hospital staff, home health care staff and physicians (Dr. Cadelina, Dr. Chan, and Dr. Kerns); Dr. Lee and staff at Cancer Center of Hawaii; Bristol
Hospice, especially nurses Lorelie and Michael; Jojie Reyes and staff of Above & Beyond Case Management; home care companions, Chad Piianaia and Monise Hamilton; and caregiver Vicky Agustin, who cared for him during the last few months of his life.
