Alvin Hiromi Saiki's Obituary
Alvin Hiromi Saiki, 86, of Pearl City, Hawaii, was born on October 24, 1939 in Kapaa, Kauai, and passed away on March 18, 2026.
A standout athlete at Kapaa High School, Alvin excelled in both football and baseball before continuing his education at Colorado State College in Greeley, Colorado.
The greatest highlight of his college years was meeting his future wife, Kristine.
Alvin dedicated 35 years to education, teaching Industrial Arts and Physical Education at Highlands Intermediate School, where he made a lasting impact on generations of students. Beyond the classroom, he was a passionate coach of football, cross country, and track and field.
After retiring in 1995, he embraced the passions that brought him joy—mentoring/developing young people, running, diving for fish and tako, investing, staying healthy and active, meticulously tending his yard with pride, and faithfully cheering on University of Hawaiʻi sports.
He and Kris shared a love of travel, exploring 6 continents and creating treasured memories together. Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He loved cheering on his grandchildren, welcoming friends and family with his exceptional cooking and generous hospitality, and sharing a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure with Kris.
He is survived by his wife, Kristine, daughters Shari Kitashima (Bryan), Jodi Saiki Flint (Derek), grandchildren Lucca and Maya and sister, Arlene.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 1st, 2026 at Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9:30am, followed by Services at 10:30am.
