Amelia Santos Obituary
Amelia “Ling” P. Santos March 10, 1938 - December 10, 2024 Amelia P. Santos (86) was from Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines.
Amelia is the widow of Themis “Tom” Santos who died in 1996. Amelia was business savvy, working in her aunt’s sewing factory, and managing her cousin’s gas stations while achieving a cosmetology degree. She met Tom, they married in the Philippines, then she accompanied him to the United States where she supported her children and husband as he retired from the US Navy. They traveled from Connecticut to California, Pearl City, Hawaii and then found their way to Mililani, Hawaii. Both Amelia & Tom enjoyed Hawaii life for the beautiful weather, as well as the many friends they made from Hale Ola, the Bulacan Circle and Associates, and St. John’s A&E Church in Mililani whom they considered as family. As an active member and previous officer of the Bulacan Circle, she served a number of years in numerous leadership roles rotating positions amongst her barkadas. While the children attended school, she enjoyed working at Hickam Air Force Base’s Child Development Center as the head cook for over 20+ years until her retirement in the early 2000’s. After retirement, she continued to care for her grandchildren and babysit for family friends. Her weekend activities were always surrounded by her closest of companions, as they played mahjong and bingo.
Through her golden years, her life was full of continued dedication to her family and her surviving children: Mae Dorado (spouse: Nolan Dorado, children: Brayden and Natasia), LeeAnne Egan (spouse: Chris Egan) & Robert Santos. Amelia is survived by her only living sibling Annie Payongayong.
Services for Amelia are on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 9:30 am at St. John’s A&E Church in Mililani. Amelia will be laid to rest with Themis at the Schofield Barracks Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
