Amy Emiko Omalza's Obituary
Amy Emiko Omalza, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, after a brave journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on January 21, 1944, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Amy's life was a testament to the strength and warmth of the Aloha spirit.
Amy's professional life was marked by her dedication and hard work. She retired from Civil Service as a tractor operator at Hickam Air Force Base. Following her service, she continued to contribute to her community through her work with the Department of Education, where she retired as a custodian. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her devotion to her family and community.
A loving mother, Amy is survived by her daughters, Corinne Hatsuko Tietmeyer and her husband Nathan "Nate" Tietmeyer, and Marlene Hanae Lonoaea and her husband Spencer Lonoaea. Amy's legacy includes her adored grandchildren: Charity Lynn Nakagawa (Joseph "Jojo" Nakagawa), Ryan Justin Paderes (Sharon Paderes), Ricky Tiburcio Gorgonius Paderes Jr., Chelsie Emiko Verrecchia-Lachance (Anthony "Tony" Verrecchia-Lachance), Zachary Dean Villamar, Ikaika Gaudencio Villamar (Hoku Markus), Kawika Louis Kaona Mau Lonoaea (Kukuimalamalama "Kukui" Lonoaea), and Keoni Ricardo Kawaiola Lonoaea.
Her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy, include Rustin Kaleo Worley (Brittany Pasoquen), Joseph "Umi Boi" Umililoapuakalehua Nakagawa Jr., Jah’irielyn "Teetah Gurl" Ko’ukaikamahineli’iwale Emeteria Nakagawa, Zairah’lyn Leilani Paihianuenue Markus, Zayvin Puka O Kala Mahope Ika Uaola Gaudencio Villamar-Markus, Enzo Bradley-Wallace Paderes, Maverick Spencer Ku’Oko’a Mana’o Lonoaea, Mirajane Emiko Ku’uleihulukukuimekealoha Lonoaea, and Olivia Sayuri Verrecchia-Lachance. The family tree continued to flourish with the arrival of her great-great-grandchild, Brayztin Kamakanaokeakua Michael Pasoquen-Worley.
Amy's interests were a reflection of her zest for life and her unwavering support for her family. She was an avid card player and an enthusiastic BINGO attendee, her laughter and excitement lighting up any room. However, her greatest passion was being present for her grandchildren, whether cheering from the sidelines at sports events, applauding at hula and fire knife competitions, or simply being there to offer her love and encouragement. Amy was the embodiment of a loving, generous, and selfless spirit, always putting others before herself.
Amy Emiko Omalza's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, service, and an unending commitment to her family. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she has left on the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Her spirit, like the gentle waves of her beloved Hawaii, will continue to embrace us forever.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel.
Visitation begins at 5:30 pm and service 6:30 pm.
