Anna Pacheco Obituary
Anna Gertrude (Fu) Pacheco, age 93 of Haleiwa, passed away on the morning of
Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
She will be laid to rest at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary beside her beloved husband,
Arthur M. Pacheco, who preceeded her in death in 2003.
Anna was born on February 9, 1926 to Fu Lung Shak and Phoebe Manoiki in Hanalei,
Kauai. She graduated in 1945 from Kauai High School in Lihue. She met Arthur Pacheco
on Kauai and they married in Honolulu on December 16th, 1946.
Anna was a wonderful housewife and mother of two sons, Dennis and Calvin. She
enjoyed volunteering as a swimming instructor and mentor for the Board of Public Parks
and Recreation in the 1950s for a number of years.
Anna and Arthur moved their family to the mainland in 1957, first to Long Beach CA and
eventually to Bend, Oregon, where their sons graduated from Bend High School. Anna
and Arthur moved to Salem in 1969, and upon their retirement in 1981, moved back to
Hawaii and settled in Haleiwa.
Anna had many hobbies in her retirement, she enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles and
playing cards while listening to her favorite radio station. She also enjoyed her morning
two-mile walks with friends in the park close by her Haleiwa home.
Anna was preceeded in death by siblings, Helen Fu Hitchcock, Charles Fu, Lillian Fu
Mundon, Harry Fu, Lono Fu, Emma Fu Cummings, Kelekoma Fu, Edwin Fu, and Lydia Fu.
Anna is survived by her remaining sibling, Hattie Fu Baptiste who resides in Florida. She is
also survived by son Dennis and his wife Deborah of Bend, Oregon; granddaughter
Breanne Shah and her husband Amul and great-granddaughters Mila and Maya of
Mequon, Wisconsin; son Calvin Pacheco and his wife Christine of Corvallis, Oregon;
grandson Travis of Haleiwa; and granddaughter Coventry and greatgrandson Kalani of
Philomath, Oregon.
Anna was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life is being
planned at a later date.
We would like to thank those who cared for Anna at Wahiawa General Hospital and
Bristol Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to Bristol Hospice.
