Annie 'Aunty Annie' Gonyea Obituary
ANNIE KAHOILUA GONYEA, beloved Mother, Tutu and “Aunty” of Wahiawa passed away on September 29, 2018 at the age of 79. Born on May 30, 1939 in Keaukaha, Big Island, she was raised in Hilo where she developed her love for flowers and the outdoors working on the family’s orchid farm. She worked at the Hawaii Country Club in Kunia as a grounds maintenance foreman & large machine operator, and retired in 2014 with the distinction of having the longest dedicated years of service at 50 years…that’s right - Fifty years!
She worked hard all of her life and enjoyed life as well. Known to many simply as “Aunty Annie”, she wore her heart on her sleeve and shared her love and aloha freely. Her unique sense of humor and zest for life endeared her to many, many people across a wide range of age groups and diversity. Her words, actions and loving spirit will live forever in our hearts.
