Arceli Siapno Equila's Obituary
Arceli Siapno Equila
July 23, 1963 – January 10, 2026
Arceli Equila, 62, passed away on January 10, 2026. She was born in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines. She was the youngest among her siblings and carried with her a strength and warmth that would define her entire life.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Pangasinan, Arceli moved to Germany, where she met her loving husband. Their 39-year marriage was built on devotion, and unwavering commitment to family. Together they raised their three children in North Carolina before making Honolulu, Hawaii their permanent home.
Arceli dedicated 33 years to the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). She worked her way up starting at the Cashiers Cage at Western Union, and through various offices and becoming the Store Manager. She also completed an 18-month tour in Kuwait with AAFES, a testament to her resilience and dedication. Arceli was known for her tireless work ethic, honesty, and straightforward leadership – but those who knew her best, also knew her incredible kindness and loyalty. Through her work, she built many lasting friendships before retiring in September 2024.
Above all, Arceli’s greatest achievement, were her family. She was endlessly proud of her children and never missed a chance to say so. She showed love in the most meaningful ways – through home-cooked meals, long conversations, laughter, and simply being present. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and the time spent together was what she treasured most. The love she poured into her family will continue to live on in them every day.
Arceli is survived by her husband, Willie Equila; her daughters, Christy Ann (Jason) Ramos, Bernadette (Robert) Wu; her son, Bernardo ‘Sonny’ (Bricen) Equila-Liu; her beloved grandchildren, Bryceton, Rylee, Gemma, and Theo; and her sister, Elnora Siapno. She was preceded in death by her parents, Candido and Conchita Siapno; brothers, Nestor, Napoleon and Nick Siapno; and sister, Nely Siapno.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the life she lived and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered and always carried in our hearts.
