On September 12, 2022 at 8:45 am, Arlyne Anuenue Awana Lee passed away in Olalla, Kitsap, Washington. She was surrounded by her children, Lisa (Frank) Teshima, Roberta (Rockne) Guerrero, Lori (Tehina) Mo’o and her grandchildren via FaceTime.
Nue, is what everyone called her, was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on November 15, 1943 to the late Thomas Ku’uleilani Awana Sr. and Mary Alisa “Maka” Kaopua. She grew up in Nanakuli, Hawaii on Keaulana Avenue next to Zablan Beach. She was the only girl of 4 children. Her brothers were Thomas, Ronald and Gregory (Bugsy) Awana. Nue attended St. Joseph School in Waipahu and later graduated as a “Rough Rider” from Roosevelt High School. In May of 1963, Nue married Robert Ah Kuil Lee Jr. They raised their family in Makakilo on Palailai Street. Arlyne worked and retired from Hawaiian Electric as a Key Punch Operator. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served as a temple and family history center worker in her later years.
She is survived by 3 daughters, 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and two sister in laws. Her celebration of life will be on Thursday, November 17th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Makakilo Hawaii Stake Center. Public visitations will be from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Services to follow. Her final resting place will be at Diamond Head Memorial Park.
