Beatrice H. Ganzagan's Obituary
Beatrice H. Ganzagan, age 87, of Waipahu, HI, passed away March 27, 2026, in Aiea. She was born August 27, 1938, in Pahala on the Big Island. She was the youngest of six children born to Jacinta and Adriano Helliango. Beatrice joined the U.S. Army soon after she graduated from Pahala High School in 1956. She later earned an associate degree in accounting and worked as a tax consultant, while still managing raising her five children. Afterward, she joined the U.S. Postal Service in Pearl City, where she dedicated 25 years of service before retiring.
Beatrice was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Waipahu since 1969, where she served as an active lector member. She also taught catechism there for several years during the 1970s.
Beatrice loved to travel to places such as Germany, France, and Tahiti, and she enjoyed taking multiple cruise trips. Her favorite destinations, however, were Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada, where her passion for gambling was always the highlight of any trip.
Beatrice possessed a deep passion for writing. Among her favorite pastimes was composing and submitting “Letters to the Editor” to the Star-Advertiser. Her face would brighten with joy each time one was published—a proud moment that occurred quite often.
She is survived by her daughters, Regina Higa and Celine (Charles) Ferreira; her sons, Jason Ganzagan, Brandon Ganzagan, and Charlie (Kealii) Koanui; her sister, Patsy Ajejo; and twelve grandchildren. Beatrice was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Gilbert C. Ganzagan, and her son, Todd D. Ganzagan.
