Bernard Nolan Valentine's Obituary
Bernard Valentine Obituary
Bernard Nolan Valentine, Sr., 75, of Mililani, Hawaii, was called to heaven on December 10, 2024. He was born on September 11, 1949 to Philip M. and Edith Valentine, and was the youngest of five siblings.
Bernard graduated from Radford High School. During the draft for the Vietnam War, Bernard signed with the Navy with the intent that it would prevent his elder brother, Phillip from being sent to the War. Little did he know Phillip signed with the Army to prevent Bernard from going to war. Their efforts negated each other because they signed with different branches of service, one on land and the other at sea, so both were required to serve. Bernard enjoyed a long career in law enforcement, as a proud member of the Honolulu Police Department, and later, as an Investigator with the Honolulu Prosecutor’s office. He was an avid classic car collector entering many classic cars shows at the Neal Blaisdell Center, and an avid body builder, even medaling in multiple Olympic Power Lifting competitions. Bernard, a loyal San Francisco 49ers Fan, enjoyed playing baseball with the Puerto Rican Baseball league, and many travels to Las Vegas.
Bernard was a charmer and was loved by all. He is survived by his four children, sons Bernard, Jr., Shane, and Chad, and daughter, Monique. Grandchildren, Chanel, Bernard, Sage, Kolomona, Brooke, Caitlin & Ian. Sisters Geraldine Maria, Marie Kanealii-Ortiz; and Sister-in-Law Hilda Valentine. Many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Edith Valentine, brother Philip Valentine, Sr., and sisters Lila Aila and Rita Eng.
Bernard’s smile, giggle and “Hammah time” voicemail will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel. Visitation begins at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am. Burial to follow, 1:30 pm at Mililani Memorial Park Cemetery.
