Bryson Keoni “Tru” Shimomura, 26, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on August 6, 2025. Born on January 30, 1999, in Honolulu, Bryson lived a life filled with passion, heart, and adventure.
From a young age, Bryson was active and full of energy, excelling in sports such as football, basketball, soccer, and track. He had a deep love for the water and was always drawn to the ocean as he grew older, Bryson loved spending time outdoors, exploring Hawaii’s natural beauty through hikes and adventures. His focus also turned to fitness—hours at the gym became his outlet and a source of peace. He later took on new challenges in jiu-jitsu and kickboxing, where his determination, discipline, and competitive spirit truly shined.
Bryson also had a lifelong passion for music. While he began by learning piano as a child, his true creative expression came through mixing beats, writing lyrics, and rapping. Music became his voice and one of the many ways he shared his heart and soul with the world.
Known affectionately as “Tru,” Bryson had an incredible gift for uplifting others. Whether you were family, friend, or stranger, he had a way of making you feel seen and supported. He was a kind soul who gave freely and loved deeply. His strength, humor, and faith carried him through every season and struggle of life. Though his earthly journey ended too soon, we trust he has now found peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
Bryson is survived by a loving family who will forever carry his memory with pride and deep love. He leaves behind his mother, Wilda Tagudan Morita, and stepfather, Brian Morita; his father, Johnathan Allen Shimomura, and stepmother, April Miligan. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Regina Shimomura, and his maternal grandmother, Erlinda Tagudan.
His spirit will continue to live on through his siblings: sisters Kaitlyn and Nicole Shigeta; stepsisters Taylor (Joshua) Loo and Lauren Morita; and stepbrother Brenden (Lindsey) Morita. Each of them will carry a piece of his light and love with them always.
A funeral service to honor Bryson’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Visitation begins at 5:30 p.m., with service to follow at 6:30 p.m.
