Catherine Lopez Datuin was born in the Philippines on September 3, 1976. She passed away in Las Vegas on December 20, 2021 at the age of 45 years old.
She is survived by her parents Pacifico and Mary Lopez Datuin, maternal grandmother Eufemia Angeles Lopez, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Des Datuin, nieces Mia and Mina Datuin, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Felipe and Virginia Espinosa Datuin, maternal grandfather Daniel Lopez, uncle Daniel Lopez Jr., and auntie Ligaya Datuin Sevilla.
Catherine spent most of her years in Hawaii and Las Vegas. She graduated from Leilehua High School in Wahiawa, received her B.A. Sc in Business Administration and Management from Wayland Baptist University. Her fierce advocacy for the homeless community started in Hawaii working for the Affordable Housing and Homeless Alliance (AHHA) as a Volunteer Coordinator and Site Manager.
She moved to Colorado in 2013 and worked for Archway Housing & Services as Manager of Family and Volunteer Services. In 2014, she moved to Las Vegas, and became a Realtor at TR Realty and also worked at several residential and commercial properties as Property Manager.
She was passionately involved with the community volunteering her time. She was a Volunteer/Housing Specialist with the US Vets helping homeless veterans find housing and resources. She served as Board Secretary for My Scars Are Beautiful, served at Help Hope Home in Vegas, Halau Kalama in Hawaii, Unity Church of Denver, National Federation of Filipino American Association in Colorado, always involved with countless homeless community outreaches.
Catherine lived her life to the fullest with passion and love for others. She was a beautiful and gentle soul, yet fierce and powerful as they come. She shined her light wherever she went and made her mark in this world. Compassionate, kind, fearless, charismatic, strong and courageous, Catherine was a warrior with a heart of gold. She is so loved and has been a blessing to so many people.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary, Makai Chapel (Waipio). Visitation begins at 10:00am and Service at 11:00am.
