Charles Carlos Padilla's Obituary
Charles Carlos Padilla of Honolulu passed away on April 25, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born on September 30, 1945, in Kipu, Kaua’i, Hawai’i. He was the tenth child of Victor and Dativa Corpuz Padilla. He grew up on a plantation on Kaua’I and graduated from Kaua’i High School in 1963. He attended the University of Hawai’i and graduated in Business Analysis and Statistics in December 1971. He was in ROTC at the University of Hawai’i and enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1968. He traveled to the Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Washington, California, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, and Missouri as part of his military duties. He was a member of the Army Reserves for over 20 years and retired in 1998 at the age of 60.
Charlie began working for the State of Hawai’i, Department of Labor and Industrial Relations in 1974 in the Unemployment Insurance Office. He later transferred to the Disability Compensation Division and worked as a Workers’ Compensation Hearings Officer until he retired after over 30 years of service in December 2004. Charlie lived an active life, enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, playing golf, and going to the University of Hawai’i football games at the stadium and away. He also enjoyed traveling and he was a good cook. Family was very important to him and he was very generous person.
He is predeceased by brothers, Paul Padilla, Vicente (Virgie) Padilla, Alfredo Padilla, Santos (Lita) Padilla, and by sisters, Sr. Dativa Padilla, OSF, and Cralina (Ernest) Tacderan. He is survived by his companion of over 40 years, Diane Lam, and brothers, Aurilio (Carmen) Padilla, Raymond (Rosie) Padilla, and George Padilla, and numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces.
