Conception Herolaga's Obituary
Conception Herolaga Obituary
Conception (Connie) Herolaga passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, surrounded by family. She was 76 years old. Connie was born on October 8, 1948 in Waipahu Hawaii to Jose Pagente (deceased) and Lucia Daguman.
She attended Waipahu High School and graduated in 1966. She spent 35 years working in our state and local government for Waipahu Cultural Garden, Representative Julie Duldulao, Representative and City Councilman Nestor Garcia and Representative and now Senator Henry Aquino.
Connie was a cornerstone of her community, a testament to her dedication and love for those around her. As the Chair of the Waipahu Neighborhood Board, member of the Waipahu Community Coalition, member of the Han’s L’Orange Park Council, member of the past Waipahu Boxing Club and Secretary of the United Visayan Club of Hawaii, Connie was a beacon of leadership and kindness, always working to bring people together and foster a sense of unity and belonging.
But beyond her accolades, Connie was a loving wife, a devoted mother and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a cousin whose love knew no bounds.
She is survived by her husband, Ryan Herolaga; daughters, Yvette (Pablito) Amascual, Rochelyn (Stanley) Hasiak, and Jasmine Herolaga-Batalla; mother, Lucia (Leonard) Mendoza; sister, Michelle (Mark) Heller; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ronald) Greig, Jessica (Brandon) Gideon, Tatiana Herolaga, Gabriella Batalla, Rayna Batalla, Angeli Amascual, Amanda Herolaga, Keilani Amascual, Kapono Amascual, and Jhenaea Couch; great-grandchildren, Bethany Gideon, Xayah Herolaga, Theodore Gideon, and Draven Do-Herolaga.
We remember not just the loss of Connie but the incredible life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind. Her impact will be felt for generations to come, in the hearts of her family, her friends, and her community. We will miss her dearly—her laughter, her wisdom, and her unwavering love. But we carry her memory forward, inspired by her life and the lessons she imparted.
In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at St. Joseph Church in Waipahu. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m.
