Conchita “Connie/Doris” Gipaya Tiedemann died peacefully at the age of 85.
She was born on October 2, 1936 in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Vicenta Lomongo and Geraldo Gipaya. After graduating from Waipahu High School in 1955, she married Gustav Tiedemann in 1956. She raised six children and was devoted to her family, neighbors, and friends as one of the first 8 families to move into the new “Makakilo City” in 1962. She worked as a clerk and cashier at the Navy Exchange at Ford Island and Pearl Harbor before retiring after 30 years.
Conchita is survived by her 5 daughters Debra (Doug) Knight, Lynn (Kalani-deceased) Gonsalves, Dawn (Nui) Nakoa, Drinda (Ronald) Kaya, Diana/Lupe (Jon) Okamura and her brother Frank Gipaya, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Gustav “Gus” Sr. , son Gustav “Sonny Boy” Jr. and daughter Dorie Lisa. Also her sisters Consuelo Vellocido (her twin) and Gordendiana Esias, Her brothers Francisco Tan, Joseph Gipaya & Fred Larobis.
Her funeral service will be at Mililani Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Viewing is 9:30am-11:00am, Service is 11:00am-12:00pm and Burial is at 12:30pm . Due to Covid restrictions we are only allowed 250 people in the Mortuary, and they need to provide a Proof of Vaccination or a negative Covid test within 24-48 hours. The funeral director will do a temperature check before issuing a band for entry. A table and family will be outside to meet guest who are just stopping by. RSVP to a family member if you are coming to the services.
