DANIEL BENNETT Obituary
DANIEL KAWIKA BENNETT, 49, of Aiea, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023, surrounded by family and many friends. Kawika was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on November 6, 1974. He attended St. Anthony School, Kamehameha Schools (1993) and Honolulu Community College (1999). He was an Eagle Scout. He was a federal employee since 1997. He received a Fire Science degree in 1999 and entered the Federal Fire Department of Hawaii the same year, worked at multiple federal fire stations across Oahu. He was stationed for the last 7 years as Fire Engineer at the Manana Station 5 in Pearl City. Kawika always challenged himself. He had a special calling studying various martial arts from a young age, including judo, stick fighting and jiu- jitsu, to name a few. But his greatest passion was training alongside his son, who follows in his judo footsteps. Kawika will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his life partner Iris Simpliciano, son Thor Guerrero, mother Laura Bennett (David Akins), sister Nani (David) Shimabuku, uncle Hugh Guerrero and niece and nephew, Lily and Reyn Shimabuku. The Federal Fire Department held a beautiful memorial service on the Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam on December 28, 2023. Family and friends are invited to his Celebration of Life at the Bishop Memorial Chapel at Kamehameha Schools (1887 Makuakane Street Honolulu, HI 96817) on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Visitation to begins at 9:15 am and service at 10:00 am.
