Daniel Char Obituary
Daniel Tenn Char was born in Honolulu and grew up in Kaimuki and Makawao, Maui.
He was a corporal in the US Army and stationed outside of Munich, Germany during the Occupation after World War II. It was there he met his future wife, Gabriele Schmid.
Returning to Hawaii he worked for the US Coast Guard at Sand Island until retirement.
In his later years he was employed at UH Manoa, where he worked in the bookstore for ten years. He very much enjoyed working with the students there.
He was a man of many talents, skilled in arts and crafts. He was a good husband and father, with a wonderful sense of humor. Preceded in death by his wife Gabriele, he is survived by his two daughters, Sybille Char and Elizabeth Char, and his sister Jane Smart.
