Danny Laforga, Sr.'s Obituary
Danny Laforga, Sr.
September 19, 1938 – March 5, 2026
Danny Laforga, Sr., age 87, of Waipahu, Hawaiʻi, was birthed into eternal life on March 5,
Born on September 19, 1938, in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Danny was the eldest of four children born to Juan and Bernarda Laforga. From a young age, he carried a strong sense of responsibility that would continue throughout his life. He later graduated from the Philippine College of Criminology before emigrating to Hawaiʻi in 1962 to build a better life for his family.
A humble and hardworking man, Danny believed deeply in the dignity of work. He worked at Leahi Hospital for 30 years and was a devoted provider who made many sacrifices so that his four children could receive a Catholic education. He met both joy and hardship with patience and calm, accepting life as it came and giving his best each day through quiet perseverance and steady effort.
Danny was known for his simplicity and practicality. He found joy in building, fixing, and caring for things with his hands, carefully dating everything he built—or even purchased—as a reflection of his orderliness and respect for hard work. He generously cut hair for family members and others, always willing to serve in small, meaningful ways without expecting recognition.
In his later years, as his family grew across generations, Danny found great happiness in simple family gatherings and outings. Being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him deep contentment. He valued presence over words and led by example through consistency, kindness, and quiet strength.
Danny felt especially at home within his parish community at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waipahu. He served faithfully as an usher and took pride in being part of the parish family, finding purpose and belonging in simple acts of service. His devotion also extended to caring for the St. Joseph garden, where his love for gardening reflected his patience, humility, and nurturing spirit.
Danny is survived by his beloved wife, Flora Laforga; his four children, Maribel Laforga, Mildred (Erwin) Eykel, Marilyn Laforga, and Danny Laforga; seven grandchildren (Rochelle, Christina, Daniel, and Angela Estigoy; Erik and Sarah Eykel; and Sean Moore); eleven great grandchildren (Aria, Jayden, and Mason Nuez; Skyler, Stella, and Sia Torres; Ellie, Bradford, and Emily Estigoy; and Scarlett and Maddox Moore); and his sister, Flora Agbayani. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Bernarda Laforga, and his sisters, Rosita Asuncion and Warlita Radona.
Danny Laforga, Sr. will be remembered as a gentle, kind-hearted, and faithful man—a loving husband and father whose legacy lives on through the family he built and the quiet sacrifices that shaped generations.
The Visitation will be held at 8:30 am and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waipahu, followed by burial at Mililani Memorial Park (Section HH).
