Daryl J. Whitney Jr.'s Obituary
Daryl J. Whitney, Jr., a cherished soul who walked this earth with gentle grace and selfless love, completed his earthly journey on September 24, 2025, in the serene surroundings of Honolulu, Hawaii. Born on July 15, 1969, in the historic city of Colchester, Essex, England. Daryl's life was an embodiment of faith and dedication to the ideals he held dear.
Daryl was blessed with a keen intellect and a thirst for knowledge, and after graduating from Admiral Arthur W. Radford Highschool, Daryl pursued his passion for understanding the world through the lens of history, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. His academic achievements were not merely a testament to his intellectual prowess but also paved the way for a life of thoughtful engagement with the world around him.
Daryl's interests were as profound as his spirit. An avid historian, his eyes would light up at the chance to share the lessons of the past, connecting the dots of human experience across the ages. His love for photography was another avenue for his boundless creativity, capturing moments of beauty and significance, immortalizing them for posterity. In his spare time, Daryl loved to play chess-his passion for the game reflected his personality: analytical, patient, and deeply thoughtful. Yet, it was his deep-rooted faith that truly defined him. Daryl lived out his Christian beliefs with a fervor that was both inspiring and humbling, consistently spreading the light of love, hope, and compassion to all he encountered.
His family, the cornerstone of his life, includes his devoted mother Patricia T. Romain; his sister, Liza Whitney-Clipps, (Phillip II & Phillip III); his aunt & uncles, Jo Lena McFall, James Williams & Jay O. Williams; Anthony Romain of Diego Martin, Trinidad, Yvonne Romain of Cap-De-Ville, Trinidad, Lystra Romain, Kempton Scipio-Romain, Houston, Texas; Linda Romain of Pennsylvania; Ivor Romain of Vancouver, B.C.; his nephews, Warwren and Andrew McFall, III of Chicago, Illinois and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Daryl was preceded in death by his father, Daryl J. Whitney, Sr., his maternal grandparents David Benjamin and Violet Romain of Trinidad and Tobago; paternal grandparents J.O. and Irene William of Chicago, Illinois; uncles Emmanuel H. Romain, David, Winston, Kwame, Janice Romain, Mary Mark of Trinidad & Tobago and Imelda Hodge-Romain of St. Maarten. The fabric of their family is woven with the threads of Daryl's love, teachings, and memories, a tapestry that will continue to offer comfort and inspiration in the days and years to come.
Those who knew Daryl would agree that to describe him as gentle, selfless, and faith-filled is to capture but a glimpse of the man he was. His presence was a sanctuary of peace, his actions a testament to a life lived for others. He was a beacon of hope amidst the storms of life, always pointing toward the enduring love of the Creator he served so passionately.
As we reflect upon the life of Daryl J. Whitney, Jr., let us honor his memory by emulating his virtues. Let us be gentle in our judgments, selfless in our giving, and unwavering in our faith. As he now enters into eternal rest, may we carry forward the light he bore in this world—light that darkness could not overcome.
Daryl's life was a journey of joy, service, and unwavering faith. As we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind, we are reminded that our time here is not just about the years in our life, but the life in our years. Daryl lived fully, loved deeply, and his spirit will continue to guide and comfort us until we meet again in the glory of our Heavenly Father.
