Dave Uemura Obituary
Dave Katsumi Uemura, 54, passed away on May 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, on January 19, 1971, Dave lived a life filled with aloha, kindness, warmth, and deep connection to his family, friends, and community.
A proud graduate of Mililani High School and the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa College of Business Administration, Dave’s love for his alma mater ran deep. He was an avid supporter of University of Hawai‘i sports and a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also had a passion for golf, good food, and cherished time spent with those he loved—especially his nieces, who held a special place in his heart.
Dave spent 21 years living in California, where he built lifelong friendships and became actively involved in several charitable organizations. Two years ago, he returned home to Hawai‘i, where his presence continued to bring light and happiness to those around him.
Known for his ever-ready shaka, generous spirit, and infectious smile, Dave had a remarkable ability to leave a lasting impression. He touched the lives of many and was always quick to offer a helping hand or words of encouragement. His warmth and aloha will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his father, Ronald M. Uemura (Mary Lyn); mother, Amy K. Uemura; girlfriend, Kari-Lyn Canaday; brothers Glenn T. Uemura (Jeannette) and Craig M. Uemura (Erin); nieces Kaitlenn U. Isobe, Jaimelenn U. Sabas, Madison K. Uemura, and Jesse K. Uemura; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Rest in aloha, Dave. You will forever be remembered, cherished, and missed.
