Melissa Maas
Donna’s gracious hospitality to the Bell family, without a doubt, stands out in our minds. Her home was immaculate, beautiful homemade curtains and quilt displays that changed with the seasons, down to the simple homemade napkins. She was an amazing cook and baker, which I stole many a recipes and still use to this day. Donna always served her guests with a smile and warmth from her heart.
I was always excited when we came back to the North Shore to see what quilts she had made and what she was working on. Always beautiful!
On one occasion I asked her to show me how to quilt. Walking into her sewing room was like stepping into this well organized workshop, matching scrap colors lined up in their own see through containers, state of the art equipment and some very amazing antiques, she could hardly wait to show me her new sewing machine and even let me use it. Everything she sewed was perfect and done with precision. What fun we had together as she taught me her craft, not that I was very good at it, but my one small 6x6 square turned out great with her assistance!
Donna will be missed in so many ways. I am grateful Danny and I were able to be with she and Robert October of 2024 and spend time with them again.
Blessings to you, family, we love you all so much and cherish so many years with Ohana. I could write so much more of wonderful times together as I hold them dear to my heart.
Aloha for now Donna and can’t wait to see you again in heaven and take up where we left off.
Love you,
Carol and the Bell family
