Dorothy Elias Obituary
Dorothy Elias (Thomas) was born on August 16, 1920 at Ewa Plantation to Manuel Thomas and Mary Silva. She passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2022 at the age of 101 surrounded by her loving ohana.
In 2020, Governor David Ige issued a proclamation acknowledging her milestone 100th birthday. Dorothy was known for her bright smile, caring heart, abundant generosity and contagious aloha spirit.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Iseri of Kaneohe and Betsy Carson (Jim) of California. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Gilbert Elias who died in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Rich, Margaret Miranda and Manuel Thomas, Jr. Her son-in-law, Lionel Iseri also preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a graduate of Roosevelt High School class of 1938. She worked at Navy Laundry and was a former cook at Aiea Heights Rest Home.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Elizabeth Church, Aiea. She was known to recite the Rosary every day and included in her prayers all of her loved ones as well as the many charitable organizations to which she was a generous donor, supporter and advocate.
Dorothy was an avid reader. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Artistically inclined and talented, she used to sing and draw and loved her pet parakeets over the years.
Visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth Church in Aiea on Thursday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m. with mass at 11:00. Internment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park.
