DOUGLAS A.BETER Douglas “Uncle Doug” Beter, of Pearl City, passed away on March 13, 2024. He was born in Honolulu on November 28 1950, and graduated from Waipahu High School in 1968. He was first employed with the City & County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation as a lifeguard at Aiea Swimming Pool When his parents Eugene and Eileen Beter passed, he continued to operate their business, Pearl City Termite and Pest Control, while working at a prison halfway house. Doug’s hobby was training homing pigeons and pigeon racing. He was a member of the American Racing Pigeon Union and established Rainbow Pigeons, releasing rainbow-colored birds at special events. He did multiple volunteer activities for the City Recreation Easter events, Hawaii State Public Library System, various school events, social events and events for hospice and cancer care. Doug leaves behind brother Norman (Melva), his sisters Rowena (Danny d.2023) Obrero, Maile Beter and many nieces and nephew. His brothers Pathrick (Lily) Beter preceded him in death in November 2023 and William “Billy” Beter in 2017. Please join us to celebrate memories of his life at Mililani Mortuary on Friday, May 17, 2024. Viewing from 5:30 p.m., service begins at 6:30 p.m.
