Edith Haruye Nakatsu April 16, 1923—June 3, 2026
Edith Haruye Nakatsu, 103, of Pearl City, Hawaii passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 3, 2026 after a very brief stay at Maluhia Hospital. She was born on April 16, 1923 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Edith was married to Thomas Tetsuo Nakatsu for 51 years until his passing in 1999. Their favorite pass-time was traveling to any place that caught their eye. Destinations included places like New Zealand, Australia, China, Japan and multi mainland U.S. states. But their favorite destination was the “Ninth Island”, Las Vegas. Edith was a very sociable person and enjoyed talking to everyone she met on her travels.
Edith is survived by children, Elizabeth Nakatsu, Wayne (Colleen) Nakatsu, and Neal (Maria) Nakatsu, grandchildren Ross Nakatsu, Scott (Jill) Nakatsu, Sara (Steven) Nakatsu-Yeung, Lauren Nakatsu, Andrew Nakatsu and great granddaughter Lily Nakatsu.
Edith is predeceased by parents Zenzo and Tsumi Kira, brothers, Hiroshi Kira, Tadashi “Bull” Kira, Richard “Masa” Kira, sisters, Helen Kira Au, Yoshie Kira, Leatrice Fujimoto, Harriet Muramoto, Frances Kira, Ellen Kira and Nancy Iwaki.
