Edward Isidro Galiza's Obituary
87 of Haleiwa, passed away on Mar 18, 2026. Edward was born on May 15, 1938. He was the eldest of 10 children growing up in Poamoho Camp just outside of Wahiawa, HI. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 – 1959. While in the Navy he took an interest in karate and boxing. He also enjoyed playing the ukulele to pass the time while deployed at sea. Following his military service, he dedicated over 35 years to the federal government, first at Schofield in the housing department, then later for the Department of the Navy, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. At PHNSY, he was an outside machinist in Shop 38 and later became a Non-Nuclear Quality Assurance Inspector. He retired from Pearl Harbor in 1993. After leaving the Navy he continued with karate and competed in tournaments. He enjoyed hunting on Lanai for axis deer and mouflon. These hunting trips were his father and son time along with friends and their sons as well. He was a member of Manu O’ Ke Kai Canoe Club, where paddled for the senior masters’ division. His interest in gamecocks motivated him to learn everything about breeding and upkeeping his rosters. Over the years, he became a master gamecock breeder, often producing winning breeds of roosters. He loved to cook and was known for his pork gisantis. He and his wife Carol (dec.) loved to travel; he loved all kinds of music. He was “Mr. Aloha,” anywhere he went as he would either run into an old friend or make a new one because of his warm and friendly nature.
He is survived by his sons, Elden (Erin) and Darren (Cheryl) Galiza; daughters, Deanna (Daniel) Sabido and Ednette Foster; daughter-in-law, Leonora Galiza; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
