Edward Reid Obituary
Edward L. Reid passed away August 28,2023, at age 83. He was born in Sumner, Illinois and lived in a small farming community. He joined the Air Force immediately after high school, and he served in the military for more than 25 years. He was stationed in Hawaii twice and loved the state from the first time being here on a temporary duty assignment. After service in the military, he started his own business as a home/appliance repair man. He enjoyed the work but especially liked helping people.
His hobbies were sailing, flying gliders, and singing bass in barbershop choruses. He also volunteered as a docent at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. He liked historyand enjoyed sharing it with visitors to the museum. His special joy was greeting and guiding groups of school children through the museum. Although in poor health the last few years, he was always pleased to have family and friends visit him.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Donna; son James Reid and wife Marilyn; daughter Patricia Seaman and husband James; grandchildren Ken and Danyelle Reid, great-grandchildren Nora and Sloane; Keith and Josie Reid, great-grandchildren Koemi, Hiroshi, Amaya, and Keiko; Katelyn and Andrew Netherland, great grandchild Allen; Dianne, Rose, and Bethany Seaman.
Services will be held September 23, 2023, at Friendship Baptist Church, 91-1050 Keaunui Drive, Ewa Beach at 11AM with internment September 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.
If preferred, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s research in lieu of flowers.
