Elaine Takako Vervisch, 88, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Elaine was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved great-grandmother. She was known for her kindness, gentle spirit, and beautiful smile, and her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Born on July 14, 1937, in Kahuku, Hawaii, Elaine was the second of nine children born to Toshie and Helen Otake. She attended Kahuku High School, where she enjoyed singing, art, and creative pursuits during her youth.
In January 1962, Elaine married Ronald Vervisch. Together they made their home in California, where they raised three children:Sheryl, Maligo (Jonathan), Allen Vervisch (Ginger) and Steven Vervisch (Deborah).
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her sister Lillian; and her brothers, Robert and Stanley.
She is survived by her siblings Eleanor, Mildred, Richard, James, and David; her children; her grandchildren Jared, Trisha, Ryan, Jenna, Steven Jr., Brooke, and Matt; and her great-grandchild, Finn.
Elaine’s legacy lives on through the kindness she shared, the love she gave, and the many lives she touched.
A private service will be held in Hawaii at a later date.
