Elizabeth Ilagan Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and wife, Elizabeth Ilagan, affectionately known as “Liz.” She passed away at the age of 82 on January 8, 2025, after a life richly lived with kindness, love, and devotion to her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Liz was born on May 29, 1942, to Alfredo and Emily Bonifacio. She was one of six children born in Honolulu and raised in Aiea by her close-knit family. After graduating from Radford High School’s first graduating class, she worked in various private and state institutions as an administrative assistant. In 1973, she began her federal career at Hickam Air Force Base in the USAF Security Office, Computer Science Squadron, the Public Affairs Office, and spent the last ten years of her illustrious 32-year career as Secretary to Pacific Air Force Command Surgeon General.
She supported her two daughters as they developed into formidable hula dancers in Waikiki for 18 years. Liz was quite an avid sports enthusiast, viewing and cheering on her grandsons, in pre, high school, and college football and volleyball games. Liz loved singing, especially when she babysat her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the tunes of Disney movies and popular Barbara Streisand songs. She loved family times, activities, and her passion for traveling to Las Vegas. She was a significant member of Hawaii’s Porsche Club for over 20 years, coordinating many events that the Club held, and a co-leader with her husband, Ambro, who was the president of the Club for many years.
Liz is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ambrosio “Ambo”, three children - daughters Cathy Peavy (Bret), and Stephanie Biven (Rodney), and son Edmund (Lorelei). In addition, her siblings, Alfred Jr. (Lucy), Robert (Gail) deceased, Eugene (Debbie), Diane Ramos (John), and Michael (Althea). She had 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary, Mauka Chapel, on Monday, May 12, 2025. Visitation at 9:30 a.m., and the memorial service at 10:30 a.m., casual attire.
