Emilia Villanueva Nerona's Obituary
Emilia Villanueva Nerona, 83 of Pearl City, Hawaii passed away on October 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 28, 1942 in Cubal, Agoo, La Union, Philippines. As an only child of educators, she excelled in school and graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila with a degree in Medicine.
In 1972, Emilia moved to Hawaii with her husband, Remigio, who was newly stationed at Pearl Harbor. In 1981, she moved to Pearl City where she would continue to build her family life and raise her daughters, Claire and Janice.
After a few years of settling in Hawaii, Emilia began working at Kapi’olani Medical Center in the Mother/Baby Care unit and made her career there until she retired. She made many friends among her co-workers, some of whom she maintained close relationships with even after she retired.
In addition to work, she was an active supporter and officer of the Lunarians & Associates of Hawaii, a non-profit organization that contributed back to her husband’s hometown of Luna, Philippines. She also took-up ballroom dancing and enjoyed performing with her ballroom dance group.
After retirement, she traveled as often as she could and spent time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by husband, Remigio Nerona; daughters, Claire Tamashiro (Eric), Janice Amboy (Glenn); grandchildren, Meagan Tamashiro, Xander Tamashiro, Tyler Tamashiro, Jaelynn Rose Amboy, Isabella Grace Amboy, Roman Isaiah Amboy.
Wake Service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel.
Visitation begins at 5:30 pm and service 6:30 pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Pearl City.
Visitation begins at 9:00 am and service 10:00 am.
Burial to follow, 1:30 pm at Mililani Memorial Park Cemetery.
