EVELYN TAZUKO KUWADA
July 9, 1935 - March 17, 2023
Evelyn Tazuko Kuwada, 87, was born in Honolulu on July 9, 1935 to Isamu and Matsue Miyamoto.
Evelyn attended McKinley High School and furthered her education at University of Hawaii with a Masters in Education. She worked at Castle High and Jarrett Intermediate Schools as an English teacher and later became an educational specialist at Central District where she met the man of her dreams, Gordon Yutaka Kuwada. After retirement, they created their own educational consultation service and traveled to the East Coast and Japan.
Evelyn fully retired when she gained grandma status with her only grandchild, J.J., in 2002. She spent the rest of her grandma years traveling to Maui, Big Island, and California. Korean drama, online shopping, and cooking/baking were her favorite pastimes.
Evelyn is survived by her brother, Edwin (Amy) Miyamoto, daughter, Candace (Joey) Teruya, son, Richard Kuwada, grandson, Joey H.K. Teruya, niece, Dana (Russell) Arakaki, nephew, Todd (Judy) Miyamoto, and 4 grandnephews, a grandniece, and predeceased by her husband, Gordon, and sons, Kenton and Robert.
