Florentina Mendoza Galiza's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Florentina Mendoza Galiza February 6, 1930 – July 21, 2025 (age 95)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Florentina Galiza, who peacefully departed this life on July 21, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on February 6, 1930, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Florentina lived a life rooted in faith, resilience, and unconditional love. She grew up in a close-knit community, where she was known for her strong spirit, nurturing heart, and unwavering devotion to family.
In 1980, Florentina migrated to Hawai‘i to start a new life, carrying with her the hopes of a brighter future for her family. With courage and determination, she built a life filled with purpose and love, embracing her new home while keeping her cultural roots close to heart. After her hard work and dedication, she was able to bring her children from the Philippines to Hawaii by 1987.
Florentina worked tirelessly in multiple jobs to support her family. She served as a housekeeper for Navy housing, a dishwasher at Wong Kung Chop Suey, and later as a custodian for a tourist bus company. Through her dedication and work ethic, she exemplified strength and perseverance, becoming a source of inspiration for those around her.
Florentina’s life was a testament to kindness, humility, and grace. She worked hard, loved deeply, and never hesitated to offer a helping hand, especially to her family. Her gentle presence brought comfort, and her radiant smile and laugh could brighten even the hardest of days. Her wisdom and guidance will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Carlina, Melanio, Jovita, Nida, and Pacita, and she is reunited in peace with her beloved daughter Caridad, who preceded her in death. She was a proud grandmother to Ronie, Leilani (deceased), Christine, and Kristian, and a cherished great-grandmother to Kyra, Kaeden, and Harper.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life — cooking for her family, tending to her garden, and listening to music that brought her comfort and peace. Her memory will be forever cherished, and her spirit will live on in the stories shared, the values passed down, and the love she instilled in her family.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Mililani Memorial Park, with visitation beginning at 8:30 A.M. and burial to follow at 11:00 A.M. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor and celebrate her remarkable life.
