Frances Ricafrente Wason's Obituary
Frances Wason Obituary
It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Frances Ricafrente Wason. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend. She passed away at the age of 91 on January 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Mom was born and raised in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on July 2, 1933 to Bernardino and Apolinaria Ricafrente.
She met the love of her life, our father, John Pagdilao Wason at the young age of 16. They were married three years later on October 8, 1952. Dad returned to Hawaii – his birthplace to report to the U.S. Army. He was discharged due to his marital status. Mom traveled to Hawaii in the early spring of 1955. They welcomed five children: daughters Glory (David) Freeland, Melanie Wason, and Laura Marquart-Wason; and two sons James (Julie)and
Michael (Linda). She had 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grand daughter, along with numerous nieces, nephews and her constant puppy Miss Mochi. She is survived by her sister, Leonore Ravelo, and brothers Salvador and Rudolfo Ricafrente. Family time was Mom’s most favorite when her children and grandchildren gathered at her home for one of her delicious meals and special occasions. Mom loved traveling, gardening, watching Hallmark movies, doing word searches, and reading romance novels.
Her work experiences began with the Pizza Parlor in Ewa Beach. Followed by the Royal Pharmacy (for over 18 years). She also worked at Ogden Food Service at the airport. She retired from Tesoro of Hawaii at the Kapolei location. Mom loved being around people!
