Gabrial Kaawa's Obituary
Gabriel "Punahele" Kaawa, 85, of Nānākuli, Hawaiʻi, passed away on July 12, 2026, at The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, HI.
Gabriel was born in Hana, Maui. When he was young, his family moved to Honolulu, and later they made their home in Nānākuli, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Waipahu High School.
Gabriel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susannah "Melani" Kaawa, who passed away in 2015.
Gabriel was one of fifteen children and is survived by three siblings. He is also survived by his children: Patrick Kaawa (Valerie Kaawa), Gabri-EL H. Kaawa, Dawn Naiwi (Lincoln Naiwi Jr.), Kevin “Keone” Kaawa (Momi Kaawa), and Cyrus “Ipo” Nasau Manuwai. He leaves behind many grandchildren and their spouses, great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild expected later this year, as well as his extended ʻohana and many lifelong friends.
