Kuuipo Kalamau
Unko Kalani and Aunty Christi were one of the first people I would look for during our Ward Camps. During our 2013 Kapolei Ward Camp was one of the first times I remembered camping with Unko Kalani with his mega suite of a set up. He gave me my first knife set with a flint. We would go over our bowline knot, clover hitch, two half hitch, cook with a card board, foil, sand and coals. We had our jokes, conversations or as he called it, “real talk.” Talking to him made life feel light. Last I spoke with him was a year ago on Mother's Day, when I saw that you graduated mortality, I remembered thinking “it’s always the good ones that go.” I will always look up to you. I’ll miss our conversations and your presence. Love you unko Kalani. Thanks for being you.
