George Yoshinobu Kawatachi's Obituary
George ‘Keoki’ Kawatachi peacefully passed away on May 6 at the age of 95. Born in Honolulu, he was the only son of Masao and Yoshino Kawatachi. After graduating high school, George attended the University of Hawaii, then joined the US Air Force. He served in the Korean War then continued his service in the Air National Guard. In the Guard, he was called up to Los Angeles to assist with the Watts Riots. He served over 20 years and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He also worked at Central Pacific Bank for 30 years and retired as Vice President. George will be remembered for his quick-witted humor, gentle patience, charismatic personality and generosity. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing and was an avid baseball fan. George will be put to rest with full military honors in a private family service at Punchbowl. He was preceded in death by his sisters Ethel and Mabel. He is survived by his sisters Florence and Mae, daughter Naomi (Dwayne), sons Mitchell (Mary Ellen) and Michael (Donna), grandchildren Shayne, DJ, Moana, Kiana and great grandchildren Isaac, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Malia
