I served on the USS Sterett CG-31 from 1982-1984. Captain Sullivan was an incredible navigator and Captain. I was very proud to of served under his command. I am a better man today because of it. I was reminising about my time on the Sterett when I looked up Captain Sullivan. I am sad to find he has passed away. I pray he has smooth seas and following seas as he travels in the after life. As a Commanding Officer and later as a friend, George Sullivan was the finest man I had the honor to know in my lifetime. People like him just don't come around very often. We who knew him were very fortunate.Fair winds and following seas Captain.

My deepest condolences for out to Roberta and the family,  I did not serve under Captain Sullivan but, I worked with George to create the USS Paul F. Foster Association. He was instrumental in bringing this association into existence and planning the very first  Paul F foster reunion. He was a truly stand up man. He was loved by all and truly a sailors captain.
