Gilbert Torao Sora's Obituary
Gil Sora, 87, of Torrance, CA, passed away in his home on September 9th, 2025.
He was born in Kealia, Kauai, HI on July 20th, 1938, to Harold and Helen Sora. Gil graduated from Kapaa High School in 1957 before enlisting in the Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1961. Gil married the love of his life, Irene Aniya, in Los Angeles, CA in 1963. He retired from American Honda in 2001 after over 20 years with the company. Gil enjoyed running marathons and playing ukulele with his friends.
Gil was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen Sora and his older brother, Richard Sora.
Gil is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene, his two daughters, Teri (Mark) Biddlecomb and Cori (Dave) Haglund, his six grandchildren, Tiffany (Christian) Scott, Heather Biddlecomb, Jordan (Jessica) Haglund, Devon Haglund, Danielle Biddlecomb and Malia Haglund, and his great-grandson, Storm Scott. He is also survived by his three sisters and many beloved nieces and nephews.
There will be two services to celebrate the life of Gil Sora. The first Celebration of Life will be held at South Bay Community Church in Torrance, CA on Friday November 7th at 10:00am. The second service will be held at the Makai Chapel at Mililani Memorial Park in Waipahu, HI on Thursday January 29th at 10:00am. Refreshments will follow both services.
