Isayas Gabriel Obituary
Isayas Gabriel, 93, of Waipahu, Hawaii, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was born on Thursday May 19, 1932 in Kekaha, Kauai to Cecilio Gabriel and Marina Manganaan.
Isayas served active duty in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. He was a Korean War Veteran. He served in the reserves until 1966.
Isayas married Aurifera Pablo on January 15, 1966. He began working at Pearl Harbor Shipyard as a shipyard apprentice and worked his way up to Planner & Estimator Supervisor. He retired in June 1989.
Throughout his life, Isayas had a great love of sports. He played for several championship teams for Waipahu High School including baseball and football. He also played multiple sports while working at the shipyard including softball, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis. He was also a passionate coach for little league, swimming, and softball. He played in the senior softball circuit until he was 79.
He lived in Hawaii until his death. Isayas is survived by his sons, Irwin Gabriel (Beth) and Ivan Gabriel (Nenita) and five grandchildren.
We will celebrate Isayas’s life on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, and service at 10:30 am. Burial 1:30 pm at Mililani Memorial Park.
