Jane Yoshie Kanda, 95, died peacefully in her sleep October 30, 2020. Graveside services will be private.
Born and raised In Hilo, Hawaii, she was predeceased by her husband, Noboru Kanda, former manager of the University of Hawaii Poamoho Extension Farm in Waialua.
Mrs. Kanda was a graduate of Hilo High School and spent most of her working life in retail sales, first at Hilo Dry Goods on the Big Island.
Later, she worked in sales at Fashion Shoe Store in Wahiawa, the Esmond in Haleiwa and in Mililani, Kramer’s at Pearl Ridge and finally at The Body Shop, also at Pearl Ridge.
She was a member of the Waialua Hongwanji temple and after moving to Waipio Gentry in 1984, joined the Waipahu Hongwanji temple. She also was a member of each congregation’s Fujinkai women’s group.
Survivors include sons, Allen (Lila) Kanda and Maurice (Janet) Kanda; grandchildren, Jamie and Devin; great-granddaughter, Kaylie, a sister, Lillian (Nakano) Kawamoto; many nieces and nephews; and longtime caregivers, Madelyn Ragsac and Apple Caddali, who brought friendship, comfort and calm to the final years of her life.
