Janet Gabrick Obituary
Janet Marie Gabrick, 84 was born on September 28, 1938 in Leavenworth, Kansas. She is survived by husband, Charles Gabrick; sons, Charles Gabrick (Conni) and Keith Gabrick (Diane); daughter, Lynn Gabrick; brother, Kevin Mead (Karen); sister, Mary Rae Harms; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren
Jan Gabrick was endlessly generous, kind, thoughtful, loving, and good humored. She was a teacher for 30 years impacting the lives of so many in her career. She was a loving foster parent who nurtured relationships with her foster children into their adulthoods. Those who had the privilege of knowing her were made to feel like family in her presence. Those that she took into her care, experienced the gift of having someone in their court who encouraged and supported them in every endeavor. Jan was also an avid collector. In the course of her life she had collections of pandas, teddy bears, angels, dolls, and holiday decorations.
Jan, along with her husband Chuck were the best tellers of captivating stories that you would ever meet: The stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, asking more and more questions, and stories that make you feel like you met two people who lived life deeply and to the fullest. Janet and Charles were optimal hosts, knowing how to throw the very best of parties and making people feel fully at home in their presence. They enjoyed endless adventures together, decorating for the holidays, constant joyful laughter, and dancing. The world was fortunate for the opportunity to hold Jan Gabrick. She is deeply missed. Jan’s family kindly requests that guests wear purple, Jan’s favorite color, in her memory.
