Jeff Kim and I grew up together. We met at Wheeler Intermediate School, but many of our class mates knew Jeff from Kipapa Elementary School. I will always remember his sense of humor and his kindness. We were both really bad students, and we both struggled to get through school. His sense of humor kept me awake in math, psychology and business class. That was when Jeff would actually show up for class.  Even though we both hated school, we loved hanging out with our friends. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. The last time I saw Jeff he was working on a flight from Honolulu to Las Vegas in the early 2000's. He greeted me with a hug and hand shake as if we had just seen each yesterday and not in over 20 years.   He gave my dad and I two free meals of sushi and teri chicken. It was delicious. Jeff had a confident strut when he walked, but he was always so approachable, He would say hi to me every time he saw me. He wrote in my year book and told me to keep exercising and to keep getting stronger. This is something I try to do every day. I guess you can say I am honoring Jeff's hope for me every time I exercise.
